11-5-12 Much to Celebrate at the SOV Cross Country Banquet
10-20-12 Sullivan-Okaw Valley Send Girls Team to Sectionals for the 1st Time in a Decade
The Sullivan-Okaw Valley cross country teams competed at the regional in Carlinville’s Loveless Park on Saturday. The girls’ finished 5th, which qualifies the team to compete in
the sectional meet. This was the first time the Lady Redskins have made it to sectionals
in a decade. The girls were led by Carlin Nuzzo, who set a personal record with a ime of 20:15. Hannah Robinson was 2nd for the Lady Redskins followed by Cadisen Nuzzo and
Elissa Stewart. Mollie Bowman, Amanda McClain, and Erika Tomczewski also ran for SOV in the regional meet.
Carlin Nuzzo’s best time was around a 22:15 until the conference meet ten days ago, but she has come on extremely strong these past few meets. Robinson has been running well
lately, and I am looking forward to getting her back on the sectional course. The sectional
course is located at Effingham’s Mid-America Motorworks, which is the ncourse we ran at the previous week. Cadisen Nuzzo took a bit of a tumble and had a pretty bad limp the last three-quarters of a mile, but she toughed it out and finished the race. Hopefully, we can get her back to 100% for Saturday. Stewart also came on strong at the end and nearly caught Cadisen.

9-8-12 Sullivan-Okaw Valley Girls Finish 2nd at Shelbyville Trail Invitational
The SOV girls had their best finish in a decade or more. The girls
ran extremely well, edging out 3rd place Neoga by 5 points. Marshall earned 1st, and it was their first time racing this meet. Coach Ted Walk said, "I was counting the numbers as the girls passed with about 800 meters to go, and I was very anxious about the final score.
Since this is a smaller invitational, they only earn team trophies for 1st
and 2nd so I was very pleased. Hannah Robinson ran well. This was her best time on this course by a half a minute or so. Cadisen and Carlin Nuzzo both had great times, and it was nice to see some freshmen stepping up, including Alyssa Marshall finishing 6th for us just behind junior Mollie Bowman. Elissa Stewart is also a first-year runner who paced herself very well throughout the meet.
